Animal Shelter: 50 Years Strong

The Animal Shelter in Muskingum County is gearing up for their biggest fundraiser of the year.

The Annual Animal Shelter Fundraiser has raised nearly $30,000 in the past for the shelter. Executive Director Larry Hostetler says that might be tough this year.

“We’re hoping to bypass that this year, but we are taking into account the economy not being the greatest,” said Hostetler. “Every dollar we raise is a dollar that helps the homeless animals and we’re happy with whatever it is.”

Hostetler says the shelter is celebrating something special this year.

“We’re celebrating our 50th anniversary,” he said. “If you notice things are black and gold around here, so we are celebrating that. We’re going to highlight some things, show some pictures of where we came from, where we are today, and where we’re going in the future.”

Tickets for the benefit are still available. You can pick yours up at the door or at the shelter. The cost is $25 and includes dinner–the event starts at 5 p.m. Saturday evening.
