Millersport Crazy For Corn

Rarely does a food get such recognition.

In Millersport, Ohio people are crazy for corn. Sweet corn to be exact. Today was the first day of the Millersport Lions Club Sweet Corn Festival.

“We have been coming here since I was a peanut now I come and I keep the tradition with my son and I bring my friends. It is a great place for family to come and it’s inexpensive, it’s all about family,” says Shirley Kaye Sanders as she and her son Robbie chowed down on the sweet corn.

Tables stretched across the fairgrounds as rows and rows of people enjoyed the famous sweet corn. But how is this corn made?

“It is purchased locally within the state of Ohio and we have a very old antique husker machine it goes through and then it goes through a very slow process of going through water and being cooked and then it is dipped in butter before it is served,” explains Rondia Sexton the Founder’s Commons Director for the Millersport Lion’s Club

Every organization and booth at the festival supports a non profit group. The festival runs today through Saturday and features a different musical group each night.
