April Jobless Numbers Improve

The latest jobless numbers have been released and the news in good in all area counties. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services say all saw a decrease in unemployment. Here in Muskingum County…April joblessness came in at 13.8 percent…down from 15.2 percent in March. The unemployment numbers were also down in the following counties: Noble-15.5/17.2, Morgan-15.1/17.2, Perry-14.0/15.4, Guernsey-12.8/14.5, Coshocton-13.2/14.4 and Licking-10.2/11.0. The news is not all good; the State says jobless numbers are still higher than last year at this time. Ohio’s jobless rate at 10.9 percent, down from 11 percent in March. The federal rate was 9.9 percent up from 9.7 percent in March.
