A three-car accident on the East Pike sends three people to the hospital.

Sergeant Jeremy Mendenhall of the State Highway Patrol says it happened around 5:30 p.m. All three vehicles were traveling on the East Pike near Old Wheeling Road. Three out of the four people in the vehicles to be transported.

"One in the front vehicle, two in the second vehicle, small child, and then one in the back," says Sgt. Mendenhall.

Trooper Adam McKenzie says Larry Tyo of Zanesville was attempting to turn left onto Old Wheeling Road when he was struck from behind by Dustin Best of Norwich. Following that crash Michelle Clark of Zanesville then struck Best’s car from behind. Tyo, Best and Best’s daughter were all taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where they were treated and released.

Trooper McKenzie says Best and Clark were both cited for failure to assure clear distance ahead.
