Christ’s table in Zanesville did its part in giving back to the community this Thanksgiving.
By 11am, the organization had already served more than 100 meals. Serving the masses means preparations for the big feast have to start days in advance.
"Now we start the turkey monday night, we cook them all night and all day tuesday and all day yesterday. Today they were getting the rest of the stuff ready, the stuffing, they will have a regular traditional Thanksgiving dinner," says Executive Director of Christ’s Table Gretchen Sayre.
Sayre says volunteers from all over Southeast Ohio joined together today to help serve over 530 pounds of turkey.
"It’s very rewarding to know that those that are less fortunate in this community are able to get a warm meal."
Christ’s Table serves meals daily monday through sunday from 11am to 1pm.
