A long time local law enforcement officer is retiring.

Friends, family and co-workers threw The Muskingum County Adult Probation Department’s, Jim McGee, a retirement party Friday afternoon.

"I was very fortunate to spend 17 years here at The Muskingum County Adult Probation Department. They had a nice dinner for me here today," said Joe McGee.

McGee also retired from serving 26-years with the Zanesville Police Department before working at The Muskingum County Adult Probation Department. He says his favorite part of his job was coming to work and socializing with all of his fellow employees, who he describes as family.

"I do have some plans, I used to fish and I think I want to start fishing again."

McGee says he also plans on spending time with his grandkids. Seeing everybody all of the time is what he’ll miss most, but says he plans on keeping in touch with everybody.
