Man in Custody for Hitting Officer with Vehicle

After a hectic morning and two police pursuits, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, has taken a man into custody for allegedly striking a police officer with his vehicle early this morning.

According to officials, around 6 am,  police attempted to pull over 18 year old Joshua Baldridge of Mount Vernon, for a routine traffic stop, when he fled from the scene. Danville Officer, Chad Lishness, was trying to deploy spike strips when he was struck by the suspects vehicle. Baldridge fled that scene.

Patrolman Lishness was transported to OSU hospital by med flight in serious condition.

The chase for Baldridge continued two hours later when officers were alerted to a man slumped over in his vehicle. Once deputy’s arrived to scene, the vehicle took off once again,and a second pursuit began, until the suspect crashed into a parked car in Centerburg. Baldridge is being held in the Knox County jail.

Lishness is now listed as in good condition. The investigation of the incident is on going.
