Providing necessities for families in need is the goal of an event taking place next week.
The Muskingum Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is having their 24th Annual Golf Outing in order to provide relief for victims of disaster in Muskingum County and the four surrounding areas. This is one of the organization’s most important fundraisers of the year.
"Well we are not a government funded agency the only way do get the money for the services we provide is through the United Way and the good people that live in our community, " said Development Director, Troy Alford.
Alford says in previous years the money raised at the golf outing ranges from $17,000 to $20,000 and that is where the Red Cross is setting the goal for this year. Along with lunch and plenty of golfing there will be other incentives for participants.
"We also are doing a raffle. It’s a chance to win a $1,000 or have the pot that is raised if we don’t reach a $ 1,000," said Alford.
The event takes place at Zanesville Jaycee’s Public Golf Course on Jackson Road on June 28th starting at 11 a.m. If you would still like to register a team you can call the Red Cross to set up your reservation.
