Not much has changed in the county’s budget.
During a meeting with the Muskingum County Commissioner’s, County Treasurer Carol Friel said everything is stable with the county’s investments.
"We have budgeted $550,000 and we’re afraid we’re going to have to change the budget projecting downward because the market has not, our investments have not proven to do what they had hoped they would when the budget was first put together," explained Friel.
Friel said although she is projecting less than expected, she says the way the county’s investments are earning money is still considered good.
"We’re trending the way we need to so the adjustment is only going to be a smal one I’m hoping. But we have to be realstic, we don’t want to have an amount in the budget and it’s expected to be there for us to use and then it’s not, so that’s why I have to make sure that the budget reflects what we are actually going to earn."
Their next meeting will be in early December.
