Newark Police Are Investigating 2 Serious Car Accidents

Newark Police are investigating two separate accidents that left three people seriously injured.

Sunday morning just after 1:20 a.m. Officers respond to an injury accident at the intersection of West Main and Union Street. Officers found 66 year old David Ehlermann ejected from his vehicle and 24 year old Emily Kiger trapped with head injuries. Both were flown to Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus. Ehlermann remians in serious condition and Kiger is in stable condition. Officials believe speed and impairment are factors in this crash.

Friday, May 6, 2015 just after 5:30 p.m. Newark police responded to a pedestrian struck in the area of 1450 West Main Street. The pedestrian has been identified as 56 year old Gary Baker. Baker was struck by a vehicle being driven by Andrew Clark. Baker crossed the busy street outside the crosswalk. Neither speed nor impairment is suspected to be a factor. Baker was air lifted to Ohio State Medical Center. Both accidents are under investigation at this time.
