What Do The Snow Emergencies Mean?

Level 1 Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Drive carefully. Code Green Roadway conditions are under advisory. Inclement weather is in the area and adversely affecting traveling conditions. Public safety crews are beginning to convene on roadways. Motorists must use caution.
Level 2 Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Code Yellow Roadway conditions are declining. Inclement weather has caused roadways to become covered with precipitation. Public safety crews are present on roadways. Motorists must use extreme caution. Use judgment on road conditions versus necessity of travel.
Level 3 All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one else should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest. Code Red Roadway conditions have severely worsened. Inclement weather has affected the treatment and/or clearing of roadways. Roadways will remain hazardous until further notice. It is recommended that only emergency and safety crews be on the roadways.
