United Way’s helping hand reaches to all of its area agencies as the organization allocates the annual funding. The United Way of Muskingum, Morgan and Perry counties just finished allocating $1,123,000 of funding to its 21 agencies. All funds come through fundraisers and donations. Many volunteers have spent the past four months analyzing budgets and agency programs before deciding the final distribution. Allocations are decided on the amount of service the agency has given the prior year, any possible new service that the agencies want to expand and availability of funds. The top three agencies receiving the most money were The Red Cross with more than $130,000, The Salvation Army with more than $93,000 and Eastside Community Ministry with more than $83,000. As a donor you can also decide how funding is allocated by designating your donation to a specific agency. Agencies will start to receive funds beginning in July and will get a check every month.
