Downtown Zanesville will be the center for hoop hysteria this weekend as the Gus Macker Tournament gets underway. Eight Hundred and ninety teams from all over Ohio and as far as San Diego will be pounding the pavement to be Gus Macker champs. This is the 5th year for the 3 on 3 basketball tournament, which is expected to draw 30,000 people to town on Saturday and 25,000 on Sunday. Players can expect the same competitive games, but this year, there will be licensed Gus Busters. The number of women participating in the Tournament is growing, this will be the first year there is a court for women 19 and over. If teams lose early on, players have a chance to win other contests such as free throw shoots and slam dunks. This year there will not be a shuttle running between OUZ, MATC and downtown Zanesville, so Gus Macker officials suggest people arrive early and be patient when looking for a spot to park.
