Basketball players from all over will dribble into Zanesville this weekend for the fifth annual Gus Macker 3 on 3 basketball tournament. WHIZ News checked in with activities this afternoon to see how the game plan was coming along for this weekend’s action. Officials were busy getting ready to register the 890 teams that will be playing in this year’s games. Forty-five volunteers will work to get every team member signed up. Each member must check in so officials can ensure everyone is the age and height they said they were before they play in a bracket. And with all those teams playing hard, they will surely work up an appetite. More than 18 concession areas will be throughout the downtown area to help feed those hunger pains. All concessions are operated by non-profit organizations. Last year non-profit organizations made $50,000 in profits over the Gus Macker weekend. And those aren’t the only organizations benefiting, local hotels are booked for the event. So with 30,000 visitors expected on Saturday and 25 thousand on Sunday, where is a good place to park? There will be free parking towards the freight shop area and paid parking on 7th. Main Street from 7th to 4th will be closed as well as 5th and 6th streets.
