Cowboys, Indians and the Wild West are all images that can be found in the writings of one of America’s greatest western writers, Zane Grey. And members of the Zane Grey West Society are meeting in Zanesville this week for their annual convention. Zane’s son, Dr. Loren Grey, talked about his work of revising some of his father’s books to reflect the original copies. He also talked about how his father got inspiration from the western landscape for his books. He said his father constructed the image of the west, as we know it today. The society began 19 years ago, when Dr. Joe Wheeler organized the group following a college dissertation he did on Grey. The society has a trip planned to visit Zane Grey’s house tomorrow.
