Overnight and early morning investigations showed no signs of two local boys who have been missing since last night. Parents of 15-year-old Robert Allen and 10-year-old Luke Medaris called the Muskingum County Sheriff’s office around 10 p.m. Sunday when the kids didn’t come home from playing in the woods near their house on Russell Street in Zanesville. Sheriff’s deputies started looking for the boys around the Adamsville Road Landfill area. The area they’re searching is a couple of miles wide and may contain old mine shafts. Searches by the state patrol chopper using heat sensors turned up nothing. Officials are searching the pond areas because the boys said they were going to catch frogs. The parents say they last saw the boys around noon yesterday. Both families are new to the area and say their children are not real familiar with all of the surroundings. They are worried the children might have gotten lost. The Sheriff’s department is continuing their search with investigative dogs. Robert Allen is 5’5”, weighs 135 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes. Last seen he was wearing a purple jersey and yellow and black shorts. Luke Medaris is 4’, 70 lbs. With blond hair and blue eyes. Last seen he was wearing a dark blue t-shirt and jean shorts. The Sheriff’s department doesn’t suspect any foul play, anyone with information should call 452-3637.
