The owner of Zak’s Restaurant on North 3rd St. in downtown Zanesville, got quite a wake-up call this morning. Someone rang Al Zakany saying his restaurant building was caving in. Although the building wasn’t caving in—a large pile of bricks had come loose from the structure and had fallen to the alley below. The Zanesville Fire Department was taking every precaution regarding the structure of the building. After investigating the fire department said the structure is safe. The building was constructed in 1893 and is listed on the historic register. The fire department said some of the building’s mortar may have come loose and that’s why the bricks fell. Zak’s is open for business.
