Availability of employees is just as important as location when company's consider building a new site. That's according to the Muskingum County Port Authority. The Port Authority said because there is a large available work force in the surrounding area, Muskingum County is appealing to businesses. This is important to the county as 800 Longaberger employees were notified yesterday they will be out of work as of September 21st. Larry Merry of the Muskingum County Port Authority said the outlook on available jobs in the community is good and that the work force whether it's business growth, people retiring or people being replaced. He said in any economy where there's a downturn, some companies will be growing. Merry also said even with the cuts, Longaberger is still the largest employer in the area and he expects they will remain a strong business.
