A murder trial in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court ended before it started Tuesday. A plea bargain was reached. 22-year-old Justin Allen Alexander plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter and a gun specification charge. Alexander was charged in the July 2000 murder of 31-year-old Jason Hunter. The guilty plea carries a maximum sentence of 13 years in prison. Judge Mark Fleegle then ordered a pre-sentence investigation. Assistant prosecutor Jim Workman said the motives for the murder were sex and money. Police say on the morning of July 21st they recieved reports of gunshots fired on Pine Street. When they arrived, they found Hunter shot several times. Alexander surrendered that same day.
