It’s their 149th year and it continues to grow as the years pass. Morgan County residents are working hard to make this one the best yet. Fair preparations were underway today at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. The Fair was set to begin at 10 am rain or shine with loads of activities and events to take place. Of course there are the expected attractions, such as the tractor pulls, that are seen every year, but this year they have added some new events for people to enjoy.
This year has brought the biggest turnout for concessions in the history of the fair, and one of the concessions, Greiner’s Sausage House Bob Evans, has been coming to the fair here for over 37 years. Believe it or not, food isn’t the only thing that fairgoers flock to. Everything from sheep to goats, hogs, chickens, and of course cattle are displayed and shown. Agricultural and 4-H participation is growing at the fair and especially among the young people. A representative from the State Auditor’s Office was there to present a plaque to the President and the Secretary of the Fair Board. The plaque was given to the Morgan County Fair in recognition of county’s continual support of agriculture education among youth participants. The festivities end this Saturday evening around 11 pm after the Connie Smith show.
