As patriotism spreads across the country one would tend to think that there would be a large number of those who want to join the armed forces and support their country. However after talking with some local army recruiters, it was discovered that the numbers enlisting actually aren’t high right now. There have been a few inactive reservists who have inquired about re-affiliating with their previous units, but not many more than normal. Many people nationwide are worried about the draft coming back because of the current situation, but local army recruiters don’t expect that to happen either. They believe that our military is at a good posture right now and that a draft won’t be necessary. There are requirements to join the armed forces. Applicants must be between the ages of 17 to 35. A medical or physical exam before entering is required, height and weight standards must be met as well. The armed service aptitude battery test is another requirement for those interested in enlisting. Scores must be within a certain range to qualify for particular jobs within the military.
