An Ohio Air National Guard Unit has been sent overseas to provide communications help to the Air Force. Twenty members of the 251st Combat Communications Group left from Springfield last Saturday. The date of their departure has not been release until now. The 20 members of the 44-person unit were mobolized September 25th. The unit is based at the Springfield Municipal Airport. It is the first Ohio National Guard Unit known to have drawn an overseas assignment. So far, about 13-hundred Ohio national Guard members have been activated since the terrorist attacks on September 11th. The Guard has 15-thousand reservists in units throughout Ohio. Members of the 251st Combat Communications Group design and set up communications network used by the Air Force.
