There has not been a labor dispute at the Dana Glacier Vandervell Corporation in Caldwell for 21 years. Now there is a strike of 377 union workers on the picket line over pension and healthcare benefits. Signs alongside route 821 read “Honk for Local 4836”, and workers wait patiently for negotiations to begin. The workers of Local Union 4836 have not met with the company officials at all since they walked at 10:30 Sunday night. The union has in fact contacted the company to negotiate, however they have received no response. Union workers at the Dana Corporation are now questioning their faith in the company, some of them have worked there for over 20 years. Another issue that disturbs the men on the picket line is the lack of support for the country. Company officials took the American flag outside the building down when the strike began on Sunday night. Dana Corporation officials chose not to comment on the strike situation at this time.
