The wait is over for area residents in need of a flu shot. After a delay in the arrival of vaccines, Rambo Memorial Health Center has received their first shipment of flu vaccines and are now issuing free flu shots to Muskingum County residents. The 800 doses that they currently received will be given Thursday morning at 8 am at the Rambo clinic. The first 800 shots will be given to those who are considered high-risk individuals will be first priority. High-risk individuals are those who are 65 years and older, people of any age with any type of chronic health problem because they are at greater risk for complications if they do get the flu. Any individuals who currently have the flu, a cold or are on antibiotics are advised not to get the flu shot right away. Depending on vaccine availability, residents may come to the clinic to receive their free flu anytime between 8am and 4pm. Curbside service is available for those are disabled and cannot come into the clinic. The flu shots will be administered on a first come first serve basis. Rambo would like to remind residents to wear short sleeve shirts underneath coats or jackets to make administering the shot easier it is given in the upper arm.
