The Columbus Dispatch has sued the city pf Columbus to obtain names and statements of witnesses to a fatal shooting by an off-duty police officer. The lawsuit filed Thursday in the 10-th Ohio District Court of Appeals said that the police division has repeatedly denied the newspaper's request for information in the October 16-th shooting of Karlos Shammar Davis. Police have said that Officer Bret Bodell shot the 26-year old Davis, after he pulled a gun on him in a parking lor at an apartment complex while Bodell was working a security detail. The newspaper says the reports are public record under law.
