Today was supposed to be the biggest refund day of the year. When people flock to stores to return Christmas presents that don’t fit right or gifts that are defective. However lines weren’t long at the refund desk, it was the checkouts that kept shoppers waiting. It has instead turned into the biggest sale day of the year as some retailers are hoping to make up for the low turnout of business over the holidays. Many consumers were in picking up items rather than bringing goods back and taking advantage of the marked down prices. The big crowds of those needing to return items didn’t exist early on today, however later on refunds did pick up somewhat. Store officials estimate that most returns will roll in at the end of the week and then again this weekend.
