Firefighters battled a blaze Friday evening at the Owen's Corning Plant in Newark. The early evening blaze was at the compound's tallest tower. No one was injured or evacuated, and the fire caused only minor disruptions in the plant operations, according to plant representative Frank Giovanelli. Sparks from a contractor's cutting torch ignited dust and embers in the tower which is used for an environmental air-filter.
