Hundreds of people turned for a memorial service today in order to pay their respects to an officer killed in the line duty. Earlier this afternoon, the body of Muskingum County Deputy Sheriff Robert Tanner Jr. laid in state at St. John's Lutheran Church in downtown Zanesville. Police officers from New Lexington, Thornville and Somerset, were a part of a large group of officers who paid tribute to the Deputy. It was a somber scene as epople lined up outside the church to say their personal goodbyes.
