Investigations continue in an early morning house fire that occurred at 1 AM. The charred remains of the house on 79-70 Coopermill Road are still smoldering as caution tape surrounds the premises. The woman, whose name has not been released, made it out safely with her two dogs that awoke her when the fire began. The local Red Cross arrived on the scene immediately to assist her. It took two fire crews to battle the flames that had already engulfed the residence by the time they arrived, but unfortunately the structure was not salvageable. The Red Cross did state that this was the second fire that took place locally this weekend. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but fire officials are continuing to investigate.
