It was a deadly start to the day at the Zanesville City School bus garage. Muskingum county sheriff's major Bryan Hoover says his department is investigating an attempted murder-suicide between a male worker and female bus driver. Hoover says around 6:30 this morning (Wednesday) the two employees were getting ready to work when the double shooting occurred. Hoover says the female bus driver was getting her bus ready for her route when the male shot her at least three times, and then turned the gun on himself. The female victim is listed in critical condition at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville. She is identified as 41-year-old Deborah Law. Muskingum County coroner Dr. Howard Marsh identifies the male as 59-year-old Ron Melvin Sr. Hoover says the two victims, had some type of relationship. Hoover added that the weapon used in the incident was a 9mm handgun. Meanwhile, Zanesville School Superintendent Mike Pockl says classes are canceled for today (Wednesday) and mental health officials are helping school bus employees deal with the incident. Pockl says mental health officials will also be available to help students on Thursday.
The Muskingum County Sheriff's office says more details will be released as they become availble. Zanesville school officials says classes will be held on Thursday.
