The Zanesville City Jail is under fire. They are dealing with allegations of sexual harassment, theft and sex between inmates and jail employees. City Council wants some answers. In a packet that Police Chief Eric Lambes handed out to city council he listed those serious concerns. According to the Chief, it’s a result of a lack of supervision. Council President JoAnn Winland wants to know why the problems haven’t been addressed. The internal complaint letters document incidents from 1995 until now. In 2000, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections handed down what the Chief calls “a citation” and the city maintains was an advisory. Winland said that at the next meeting, council would demand some specifics on when and how the problem will be fixed.
