Muskingum County Commissioners are awaiting word from an outside contractor as to how much repairs will cost for the home that serves so many elderly in the county. In a meeting earlier today with Rebecca Cooper from the County Home it was decided that until cost estimates are produced, a final decision couldn’t be made. The County Home is over 160 years old and the deteriorating exterior wall needs new layers of brick. Although there is no danger to residents who live there, the problem is of some concern because the structure is aging. Right now the question is the cost, and whether it will be more effective to repair or rebuild. The contractors are being contacted and the commissioners will soon be learning of the estimates. Until then, progress is currently at a standstill.
