Cemetery Owner Charged With Fleecing Customers

A former cemetery operator is is charged with fleecing his customers. Ron Bowman faces a 25-count indictment on charges he sold burial plots without deeds and failed to deliver burial services. Bowman ran the Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Perry and Jackson counties. He could get up to 25 years in prison if convicted on all counts. He has pleaded innocent. Bowman's attorney says he might never stand trial. The 67-year-old is underoing treatment for prostate and lung cancer and is to have gallbaldder surgery. The lawyer says Bowman inherited a mess whenhe purchased the Perry county cemetery from a man who is buried there.
