July 18, 1953 was the last time the Doodlebug ran from Zanesville to Parkersburg. But each year, the Doodlebug Convention remembers the locomotive and the impact it had on Southeastern Ohio. This year, the 10th annual Doodlebug Convention was held at the Malta United Methodist Church. About 50 people were on hand to talk about past memeories and share pictures about the train. Doodlebugs were built in the 1920's to compete with automobiles. After the mid-1950's, Doodlebugs no longer ran.
