Zanesville Art Center Founder Dies

The founder of the Zanesville Art Center has died. Dr. Charles Dietz passed away at his home. Dietz was born August 8, 1910 in Zanesville and was an army veteran of WWII, where he served as a major. He was an accomplished painter, poet, teacher and author. His murals, stained glass and mosaic's are located in collections in the United States, Mexico, Europe and the Orient. In the 1950's Dr. Dietz became director of the Zanesville Art Center. He led the program for over 40 years until his retirement in 1995.
Per his wishes no calling hours or services will be observed. Memorials may be made to the Ronna Bucci/Charles Dietz Memorial Scholarship fund or Hospice of Genesis Healthcare in Zanesville. Bryan Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Dietz, who was 91, died Friday afternoon at his home.
