Zanesville Man Pleads Guilty to Accidental Shooting

22-year-old Lance A. Smith II pleaded guilty to one count of wreckless homicide in Muskingum County Court Monday. Smith was accused of accidentally shooting and killing his friend, Chad Kennedy at his home at 807 Luck Ave. In March of this year. According to County Prosecutor, Mike Haddox, Smith originally said Kennedy accidentally shot himself, but after further investigation it was found that Smith accidentally shot Kennedy in the head with a .38 caliber semi-automatic pistol. The shooting happened when the two were drinking and playing around with the gun. Smith could be sentenced within 30 days - he could face up to five years in prison.
