The drive is now officially underway to help local children start school on the right foot...with new shoes. The 14th annual Wendy's-Whiz Lace Up For Kids shoe drive is off and running. The goal is to collect new tennis shoes for school age children, who otherwise have no way of getting footwear. It's been a success for 13 years and this year is expected to be record setting. The deadline to apply for the program is August 19th. The distribution day is August 23rd. Applications are availble at the United Way, Department Of Job And Family Services, Community Action Agency, Eastside Community Ministry, Salvation Army and the Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority. You can drop off your shoe donations at any Wendy's location or you can make a monetary donation to "Lace Up For Kids" P.O Box 2100, Zanesville, Ohio 43702. Last year 830 kids were "shoed" through the program, which is combined effort of Wendy's, Whiz and the United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties.
