Zanesville Police Department continues to investigate a robbery that took place in the Maple Avenue Wal-Mart parking lot shortly after 8 p.m. last night. An elderly woman was sitting in an unlocked, running car when a man jumped in the driver's seat and drove away with the elderly passenger. The thief returned the woman unharmed. However, he demanded money from her before dropping her off in the parking lot. Police say people should never present opportunities for criminals, which means they should use common sense in and out of parking lots. Walk with other people, park in well-lit areas and never stay in a car longer than necessary. Follow those tips and thieves should be deterred, according to police.
