Coshocton County Sheriff Still Dealing With Overcrowding

Coshocton County jail is still dealing with the issue of overcrowding. The jail facility which was built to accomodate only 28 inmates houses an average of 60 men and women combined daily. To temporarily alleviate the overflow prisoners are sometimes taken to facilities in other counties. Since that practice is costing the county 65-dollars a day per inmate, a committee has been formed to find a more permanent financially sound solution. Currently the committee does have two solutions that they are reviewing. One is to expand the county jail at its current location and the other is to take over the county home which will become vacant within a year.
