Major drug arrests took place on Friday, October 25, 2002 when the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office arrested two local residents, 25-year old Ralph Long Jr and 35-year old Eric Murvine. Seized were nearly 2 kilos of powder cocaine and 145 grams of marijuana. Estimated street value of the drugs would be nearly one hundred thousand dollars. Additionally, detectivs confiscated cash totaling over 21 thousand dolalrs, 3 trucks, 2 Jeeps, 1 car and a motorcycle. Also seized were firearms as well as other personal property totaling over 100 items. Estimated value of the cash and personal property seized would be an additional one hundred thousand dollars. The investigation started as a result of several complaints to the Sheriff's Office about a drug problem in the area. Murvine faces a charge of possession of cocaine with a major drug offender specification, a felony in the first degree. While Long faces a count of trafficking in cocaine with juvenile specification, a charge of possession of cocaine, both secod degree felonies, and a fifth degree felony charge count of possession of marijuana.
