Local juvenile departments, such as the one here in Muskingum County, provide much needed services to the juveniles of their communities with a very limited budget. Juvenile probation officers and support staffs are funded through county, state, or Title IV-E funds. Just this past month, Ohio finally became eligible for the Title IV-E Reimbursement Program which is federally funded. According to Rick Davis, core director of the Muskingum County Juvenile Court, participation in this program will allow the juvenile courts to provide more services and a bigger general fund for Muskingum County. The Title IV-E Program is an opportunity to provide more funding for local residents, without requiring more state or local tax dollars.
