His trial was supposed to start later this week, but Monday Michael Martin III changed his plea from not guilty to guilty. Martin pleaded guilty to one count of reckless homicide with a gun specification, one count of involuntary manslaughter with a gun specification and one count of discharging a firearm over a public road. It’s believed Martin was firing a weapon outside of his apartment window near an alley between Sheridan street and Forest avenue when a stray bullet hit 9-year-old Michael Derwacter from Blue Rock. It happened last July. Dewacter died from his injuries. Martin could face a possible eight years in prison. His sentencing date has not been set.
