We all know February second to be Groundhog’s Day, and this year our favorite little critter brought some good news. “Buckeye Chuck” did not see his shadow in the central Ohio town of Marion this morning. Chuck failed to see his shadow so belief has it that winter would be over sooner than we might think. It’s a superstition that has been passed throughout the years, if he sees his shadow then the state could face a longer winter by six weeks, and if a shadow goes un-noticed then spring will make a visit six weeks sooner. Scientists have yet to figure out why year after year, groundhogs rise from deep hibernation, still a month from mating season, and absolutely nothing around for them to eat. New research indicates that groundhogs emerge from their holes, to check out the dating scene.
