Although the November elections are still months away, political parties are already gearing up for the races. The Muskingum County's Republican Party had two individuals to choose from for their mayoral endorsement. The party chose Dave Joseph over Rick Lavy. Both men are well-known in the Zanesville area: Joseph for his ownership of Dave's Union Bar and Lavy who once served as City Council President and as Mayor. While Lavy was not endorsed, he is still planning on running for the posistion. In related Republican news, Wednesday a Democratic City Councilman announced his decision to switch parties. Mike Joseph is moving to the Republican ticket so he may run for the Council-At-Large position. Mike Joseph will be running against John Delbert for the Council-At-Large position. The reason this position is open is because current President of City Council Joanne Winland has decided not to run again. Ralph Hennessey, who currently serves a Council-At-Large position is running for the Presidency...leaving the Council-At-Large position vacant.
