City and County officials may have found an arrangement that will address the overcrowding issues at their respective jail facilities. Like many other local jail facilities in southeast Ohio, the city of Zanesville and Muskingum County are faced with the problem of overcrowding. But with each others help that problem may soon come to an end. On a trial basis the county will take the male prisoners from the city and the city will take the county's female prisoners. If this collaboration works for both entities, it will maximize the use of space in both jail facilities, reduce costs, and hopefully do away with prisoner "waiting lists". But the good news does not stop there, finally the city will also have supervisors present on all three shifts.
