The increase in natural gas prices nationally will result in higher gas bills for area Energy Cooperative customers. The increase in price is due in part to colder than normal weather for the months of January and February, continued cold forecasts for the remainder of the winter and declines in storage inventory levels. Effective March 1-st, the average gas bill will increase by 15 dollars. To help residents deal with the monthly increase, the company is suggesting that customers take advantage of programs such as "home energy assistance program" (HEAP) or call the company at 1-800-255-6815 to make payment arrangements.
