The Muskingum County Animal Shelter is experiencing a huge increase in animals and officials say the space is very limited. Within the last five days, the shelter has received over one hundred twenty five dogs. Officials also say they expect to see the same with kittens. With their lack of space, older dogs are being put on a waiting list. Mary Pitts, an animal tech at the shelter, says the problem is getting worse as people are leaving dogs outside of the shelter. The shelter is asking residents not to leave animals in the parking lot as they could get run over. They are asking anyone who is considering adopting an animal to visit them at the shelter on Newark Road.
