A spokesman for Governor Taft says he’s very close to announcing the start of his Golden Buckeye Card discount drug-prescription program. Orest Holubec says the program will provide a significant discount to seniors that the Governor discussed during his re-election campaign. Taft wanted to start the program in January, but the pharmaceutical companies, which operate their own discount programs to lure people to buy their products, were reluctant to participate. Steve Proctor, spokesman for the Ohio Department of Aging, which is overseeing the program, says about 70 percent of Ohio pharmacies have signed on. Proctor says it will take five to seven weeks to get the program underway after it’s announced by Taft.
