The state has executed a man convicted of killing a friend’s wife. David Brewer’s execution was delayed about 10 minutes because the execution team had trouble fitting the shunts that would carry the chemicals to his veins into his arm. Brewer said in his last statement that the state has some inmates on death row that are innocent and should be released. Brewer kidnapped and killed 21-year-old Sherry Byrne in 1985. He stuffed her in the trunk of his car, then strangled and stabbed her when she tried to get away. The 44-year-old Brewer was executed by injection and pronounced dead at 10:20 this morning.
