After a successful campaign in 2002, Operation Feed is struggling to reach it's goal this year of 75-tons of donated food. The campaign has collected substantially less than that amount. Organizers point to the lagging national economy and state and federal budget cuts as reasons for the low donations. Two more events are scheduled: Celebrity Server Day at Applebees on Wednesday, May 7th and National Letter Carrier Day on Saturday, May 10th. Organizers say people can donate money and food. Contact the United Way at 454-6872 with any questions.
